Renam Silva received his bachelor degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting student at Instituto de Telecomunicações in Lisboa, Portugal. Shortly after the doctorate, he got a position as an image and video processing specialist at Samsung R&D Institute Brazil in Campinas, São Paulo. Currently, he is with Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo as a substitute professor in the Control and Automation Department and also with Universidade de Brasília as colaborator researcher.
